KANTO, ROCKET HQ, SIX YEARS AGO

Three local Kanto politicians. Each of them had ties to Rocket, and each of them was a slimy bastard. The mission was easy. Collection was simple after taking out the guards. A bullet to the head sprays the wall in brain, and when they are bagged and tied up, they are brought before Theo. A test. In the same room he proved himself two years ago, Ashley again is tested in loyalty.

However, his performance improved. Perhaps hatred used as a motivator really worked. But there was always an icy edge to the now eighteen year old teenager. Ice was in his veins, his soul, his heart. He had to embody this.

On the inside, Ashley was screaming, but he ignores his conscience. If he listens, another person close to him dies. It could be jayden cross, as a showing to him. He doesn't allow Theo the chance.

All three men sit on their knees, hands behind their back tied, mouth gagged, and eyes filled with terror behind the burlap leather.

Ashley waits, arms behind his back. His hair is done up more in a mohawk these days. He doesn't question what Rocket does. The path of blood only gets bloodier. One day, he won't care. One day, he won't mind seeing these men sitting there, awaiting their execution. One day, he'd lose that part of his humanity. Attempting to keep himself away from his humanity, he doesn't bother to learn their names. Scum 1, has a family, a little girl in school and a loving wife. Scum 2, has grandkids, graying hair, and probably arthritis, and hired Rocket without paying; a bad move. Scum 3, best of all, the kind of politician who would run for mayor. A bright young man, with great ideas to clean up Kanto. This one, juiciest of all, was a contract kill by his opponent. Can't wipe away the poison that easy.

Whether or not these were true, Ashley attempts to remove himself from his humanity best he can.

As their gagged cries call out, Ashley makes sure to make an example. Slapping the eldest of them with his backhand, he hisses. "Shut up." His voice has hit puberty, and he definitely feels that deeper voice work in his favor.

Wincing and crying, they quiet themselves, all three realizing what was about to go down. Concocting hopeless plans.

Ashley awaits his father figure. Arms behind his back, standing straight.

Typical. He wants information. He walks in here, exhausted without a wink of sleep, and bothers to order Ashley to explain whomst was on the chopping block. Ashley is used to this. Far past the point of giving a shit. Closing his eyes, he recites name to name.

"Anthony Smythe. A loving a wife. A daughter in elementary school. A target of Rocket due to a few unpaid debts. Attempted to keep his high position without Rocket compensation, despite using our assets to better his position for four consecutive years. Attempted blackmail." He gestures to the first of the prisoners. Though their black hair was visible underneath that burlap sack, they still respond with a cry. Typical. Fucker.

"Mason Moore. Bunch of grandkids, graying hair, and owing us quite a bit. Hired us to make sure some dirt was on his competition to stay in power. Decided to skimp out on pay and kill our people. Dirt includes many accounts of assault, one such disturbing enough to make even you wince, sir." Ashley didn't need to read that file again. What this old man had done deserved the slap, perhaps even a slapping machine for what he did. The vile kind of person who would allow themselves any delight, no matter the time, place, or age.

"Declan Kisenger. Famous politician, great track record, and the opponent of our client. Nothing dirt. Played by the books, got his degree, and wanted to make Kanto a better place. Lovely wife, has a kid on the way. The unfortunate target of the three." That's the one that hurts the most. As his silver eyes lookver over the last of the three, they are the most quiet of all.

Ashley takes a moment to hold his hand out towards Theo. He will defend Jayden. Even if it means bathing in the blood of those he hates the most.

"This is a test, correct?"

No hesitation left. He has looked himself in the mirror a number of times. Failure means Jubilee's death means nothing. He cannot fail. "I'll make it quick." Resolve in his silver gaze, he looks at each of the. Two of them, he's made his peace with. One tried to screw Rocket, and the other was a vile man.

The last was just trying to make life a better place. Ashley couldn't afford to care anymore. "Only need four bullets." One for each head. One more to make an example.

Ashley was gone right now.

No firearm... Theo really was going to make him go all the way here. He closes his eyes, looking over the three. Anthony, he didn't have a strong opinion on, but the bastard Mason was the kind of person who deserved to die. Declan though...

Orders were orders.

"Understood."

Ashley retracts his hand, walking like a man on a mission. His shoulders weighed down, as he approaches like a shadow of death. Encircling Smythe first, he leans in close. His lips set beside where his ears would be. "If you ever try to blackmail us again, your wife will pay for it. And then your daughter. You will be left with nothing but your mistakes." It was an empty threat, but considering how venomous Ashley had been, the threat was real enough.

This was who Ashley had to be now.

Then came Moore. Ashley admits, this old dirty grandpa deserved to die, but as he swallowed his venom, he reaches closer, grabbing towards the bag, but not pulling it off. "Moore. You get to live. For now." He looks like an Arbok about to strike. He whispers something under his breath, leaving the old man quivering.

Finally. He takes a breath in, standing up tall before Declan. As Theo has asked, he looks towards the other two, and then back to Theo. He nods.

Pulling the sack from Declan's face, Ashley looks him dead in the eyes. The man couldn't have been any older than 30. He was a young politician. His green eyes peered at Ashley. His face was bruised, but his eyes held this resilient resolve. He says nothing.

Declan closes his eyes. Accepting. This hurts Ashley. It's either him or me. How many times has that justification come up? Kill or let him take another. How much does he have to suffer? Not Jayden. How much blood does he need to spill? He would not take Jayden. He wouldn't kill another innocent person. Ashley had to do this, he had to kill this man.

His foot knocks Declan over, not an overly heavy kick, just enough to have the gagged man fall back and cough. The other two do so in tandem, crying at the brutality, in case Ashley changes his mind. No. He doesn't, but he doesn't tell them to stop. That fear, that would be the same fear Ashley went to sleep with. Let them squirm in fear for their lives. Let them come to understand that choice can change.

He sits atop of Declan now, ensuring he cannot worm his way out. The broken green eyes stab into him. Why is he not afraid to die. Clinched fists, he reels his right arm back, before slamming his whole being into his face. Every single movement of his arm intent to kill. He didn't pull any of them back. Just kept slamming his right fist into the face, breaking the nose to an unrecognizable degree, and kept going. A raw Tauros meat patty looked far more appetizing than this, but as the streaks of blood coated his red hand, and his face and Rocket uniform, he continues unabated. Declan chokes on his own blood more and more, and when brain injury was certain, Ashley throws one last fist to the meat patty face of Declan Kisenger.

By time he connects... Ashley leans back. It was done.

How long had he been going now? His silver eyes look to Theo. "...dead." It's all he can say. He doesn't show his unsteadiness. Any weakness shows Theo reason to break him down more. "Told you I'd make it quick, sir." He feels the bile in his throat ready to let loose, but he gulps it back. He killed a man.

His hands... were red...

through it all, theo simply watches with an expression that never quite changes. it may flicker every now and then but even then the difference is minuscule. indifferent.

finally, he pulls out a gun and shoots mason moore, leaving anthony smythe to be the lone survivor.

the gun lowers as he looks at ashley.

"do you know why we're keeping him alive, sawyer?"

He had to... he had to keep it together. Theo couldn't see him break. Not here. Not like that. He tried, oh how he tried. He swallowed that bile again.

As Theo pulls a gun on Mason, Ashley feels himself shocked for a moment, turning back to see the man now on the floor. The bullet through the bag on his head. Poor old bastard never saw it coming. Well, it'd be poor if Ashley had even respected him.

He'd remember today for years to come.

Theo asks the question. There's white noise in Ashley's ears as he looks at Mason. Dead. He looks at his own handiwork in Declan. Dead. He finally sees the final body, Anthony. Thanks to all this training, he knows damn well why Anthony Smythe gets to live.

"Because he's still of use to us?" The frigid tone of his voice sent chills down his own spine.
